When a right-wing man murdered Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, progressives asked MAGA to tone down the rhetoric to prevent more violence. Within hours of Kirk’s murder, motive still unknown, the right is demanding that the government wage a campaign of violence against their enemies.

Political violence is abhorrent. I have not celebrated Kirk's death.

But Newsom calling for his followers to "continue Charlie Kirk's work," someone who praised stoning gay people as "god's perfect law," who called for men to "take care of" trans people like they did in the 50s and 60s, is not it.

The night after the murder of Melissa Hortman, the Democratic legislator in Minnesota, the Yankees were at the Red Sox and neither team requested a moment of silence.

For an actual public servant.

Who we choose to hold a moment of silence for and who we do not are silences that speak volumes.
