Had a fine tour of @1722waggonway.bsky.social this afternoon. The weather in Port Seton was favourable and Ed (our guide) was able to describe how the waggonway brought coal from Tranent to the village so they could harvest the salt from the sea. Cockenzie House is nearby, so well worth a trip

#OTD (11th July 1728) William Dickson, wright (carpenter) at Cockenzie, recorded that his week’s work for the Winton Estate was only two days, suggesting a patchwork of employment for different employers. www.scottishrecordsociety.org.uk

Yesterday was workshop 3 of our PTAS project on 'Experiencing the Past'. Looking at the materials and techniques of manuscript production. It was so much fun, but I also learned that some of my students are hugely talented, budding scribes and illuminators!
