ποΈLater today, @sant.europarl.europa.eu will meet to discuss its own-initiative report. We sincerely hope the Committee will support a bold, inclusive, and forward-looking Plan - one that truly improves the lives and health of European citizens π.

πIn our EUDF Shadow CV Plan, we call for a comprehensive, integrated approach to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cardiometabolic diseases - diabetes, obesity, and CVD. Tackling these conditions together is the only way to drive real change and improve the health of people across Europe.
05.11.2025 11:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
We were honoured to welcome MEP Romana JerkoviΔ, Rapporteur for the European Parliamentβs report on an EU Cardiovascular Diseases Strategy. She emphasised the interconnection between CVD, diabetes, and other cardiometabolic conditions - and the need for the Plan to reflect this reality.

β€οΈβπ©Ή These individuals face a significantly increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other complications - often at a younger age - due to the long-term effects of high blood glucose levels.
Effective diabetes management is essential to preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD)β

Our community has been working tirelessly to ensure that diabetes is represented in this Plan.
As our Chair, Prof. Chantal Mathieu, reminded us yesterday, the stakes are high: men diagnosed with T1D before the age of 10 lose an average of 14.2 life-years. Women lose an average of 17.7 life-years.
05.11.2025 11:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Thank you to everyone who joined us! We are full of hope for the future - but it will take collaboration and commitment to turn that hope into reality.
05.11.2025 10:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
The conversation also addressed the potential of disease-modifying therapies to delay, and maybe one day even cure, T1D.
We discussed the importance of continued research and innovation and how to prepare European healthcare systems for innovative therapies.
05.11.2025 10:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
We also heard powerful testimonies from people living with T1D, which shed light on the daily challenges of living with diabetes, the emotional toll and their hopes for a better future.
05.11.2025 10:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
We discussed the urgency of addressing the unmet needs of people living with T1D in Europe and the critical role of early detection.
05.11.2025 10:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
We were honoured to welcome a number of speakers and participants, including MEPs Stine Bosse, Niels Flemming Hansen and Romana JerkoviΔ.

Weβll be discussing how early detection can be implemented, evaluated, and adapted across diverse healthcare systems β and the vital work EDENT1FI is doing to make this a reality. π
