πŸ“™In our EUDF Shadow CV Plan, we call for a comprehensive, integrated approach to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cardiometabolic diseases - diabetes, obesity, and CVD. Tackling these conditions together is the only way to drive real change and improve the health of people across Europe.

We were honoured to welcome MEP Romana JerkoviΔ‡, Rapporteur for the European Parliament’s report on an EU Cardiovascular Diseases Strategy. She emphasised the interconnection between CVD, diabetes, and other cardiometabolic conditions - and the need for the Plan to reflect this reality.

β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή These individuals face a significantly increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other complications - often at a younger age - due to the long-term effects of high blood glucose levels.

Effective diabetes management is essential to preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD)❗

Our community has been working tirelessly to ensure that diabetes is represented in this Plan.

As our Chair, Prof. Chantal Mathieu, reminded us yesterday, the stakes are high: men diagnosed with T1D before the age of 10 lose an average of 14.2 life-years. Women lose an average of 17.7 life-years.
