#movie of this week is Chungking Express a 1994 Hong Kong art house film also by Wong Kar-wai.

Its interesting because halfway through the script, Wong Kar-wai decided he wanted to make a different movie about a different cast.

Also I fell off the wagon cause of the holidays but #movie of last week was "In the Mood for Love" a 2000 film directed by Wong Kar-wai.

It is a very interesting take on a romance movie. As the two lead constantly battle between falling in love and trying to not be like those that hurt them.

Finally, the use of sound and even the lack there of is spectacular. The Irish folk music when Brendan Gleeson #spoiler crawls up the bell tower to try to save Colin Farrel's character's soul is spectacular. And when Colin Farrell is ultimately shot and the music and ambient sounds cut is divine.

As to lighting. Matin McDonagh really understands that scenes can have a warm tone or a cool tone and that how shadows cast is important. Which is sadly lacking in a lot of modern blockbusters.

But it's also a movie that really understands lightning and sound. And even calls it out during the movie subtly. As there are quite a few scenes with a cultured Bruges during the day and a wild Bruges at night.

With them blending together as the film progresses.

Colin Farrell is charmingly Irish as always and his chemistry with Brendan Gleason is some of the best character acting in showbusiness

He's only got 4 movies so we are starting with In Bruges and I gotta say 10/10 film for me.

'ight so we do like a #movie of the week thing at my work and I'm picking the movies this month.

I really wanted to watch Banshees of Inisherin again so I was like we'll just do a Marty McDonagh month.
