There are people who were around me when I was a kid who read articles about me now and comment “That’s not who she is! I knew her from church.” No, you saw a 4 year old covered in anxiety because she always had to hide who she was from day one. Nobody knew me. Not even me. It was just survival.

So basically, count your blessings. There is always something pleasant somewhere, even if the scales aren’t exactly even.

How to stay (somewhat) sane in 2025: Accept that we have very little control. Things are bad. They might get worse. You might die. Humanity itself may cease to exist eventually and we’d have nobody to blame but ourselves. But at least the sunset is beautiful, and the flowers still smell nice.
