How many clothes do you need?

Sometimes you follow a person (on one of the more visual social media platforms, e.g. tiktok, instagram) and you like their displayed personality and sense of style, but, after a while, you begin to gag at their spending habits. Why am I seeing at least two large thrift hauls from you each month?

Recently, I was reading a substack essay and the author quoted AI for a definition. I just left the app abeg i cannot kill myself with anger 😭 and to think, the foundation of the essay seemed right up my alley

I’d deactivate completely from TikTok if I did not feel tied to that app after having been on it for over a decade now #muser #musically

And how much can you learn really? Few people are open enough to sharing a lot on their stories or through their posts. Some people I only know about them because I used to see their tweets. Instagram is too “shallow” for deeper relationships to grow, you have to use the app non-customarily for that

And when I was deciding who to ask for their digits, I realised that no matter how “close” someone might feel online, a lot of online relationships are almost purely voyeuristic. Very little communication is made, almost no personal information is shared, you learn about them by watching their story

Deactivated! And I managed to get the numbers of some of my faves before I did it

I remember when Beyoncé dropped Renaissance and I couldn’t listen to any other music for 3 months straight

People jumping from TikTok to instagram, after the US acquisition, feels like people jumping from frying pan to fire. like is it now instagram that will not censor your voices? We need to (re)find ways of communicating with one another that does not require the usage of these apps
