Anything positive about america comes from its people. there is plenty about america's communities and its people that is worth saving. but it would be a mistake to conflate "america" as a collection of peoples and cultures and "america" as an ideological project and government.

the gov doesnt have to make 100% of people unlivably miserable in order to be bad. It's pattern of behavior, patterns of flawed methodology in decision making, patterns of cruelty. And very few nations have been as consistently and methodologically cruel both domestically and abroad as America

for every one oppressed person who has happily succeeded, there was likely 10 that painfully struggled. and setting up immigrants and people of color to fail is what the system was designed to do. its cool that some people didnt fail, but that doesnt justify the system's existence.
