D (the center of the triangle) is the focus of a parabola with the directrix being one of the sides. So the parabola through F and G have side AC as the directirx. Points inside the FGH region are closer to the center than to sides.

I think the key is the radius increases by a linear sequence, so r=theta. Or r=K * theta. There are some variations by raising theta to different powers.
