Seriously, you would not believe how stupid it was. Every day, unrelentingly, just the dumbest stuff by the absolute worst people. And what made it worse was knowing that we’d brought this on ourselves.

A parody of public enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet" album. Instead of Public Enemy, the name of the group is Public NMR. The album title is "Fear of a quenched magnet". The original cover had a space view of the earth and the public enemy logo (a rifle scope on a person). The parody cover has replaces the picture of the earth with a quenching NMR spectrometer. And instead of the public enemy logo, a rotating frame showing a polarization vector is drawn.

Pluralistic: Rosemary Kirstein’s β€œThe Steerswoman” (04 May 2024) – Pluralistic: Daily links from Cory Doctorow

I definitely recommend reading the next Steerswoman book. I started the series based on Cory Doctorow's recommendation (pluralistic.net/2024/05/04/t...), and have found that the statement that the true riddle is working out what genre the book is in extends past just the first book.
