07.10.2025 07:11 โ ๐ 36 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0For a while I thought I might manage this one day, but my mother has similarly never been an early person. Sheโs now been retired several years and enjoys sleeping until 8.30-9 most days.
07.10.2025 07:17 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I didnโt know about it! Think Iโm rather out the loop since leaving Twitter regularly.
I am still keen to do a London crawl with Double Diamond - I mentioned it to @huskyteer.co.uk between cocktails last weekend, who is possibly up for it too.
We had a nice chat and I got some gentle form tips. My gym seems to have become more friendly, which is lovely yet also weird for meโฆ
Itโs my solo time, Iโve never had gym buddies and Iโve never spoken to people at the gym. Feel increasingly confident trying new things and asking for help though.
Sensed someone watching me at the gym as I was lifting dumbbells. I do a superset (different exercises back-to-back) and when I was done I looked away from the mirror to see the bloke next to me open-mouthed.
โYou. Are. A. Machine!โ
Honestly the best confidence boost Iโve ever had at the gym! ๐
Iโve got a quiet social month coming up, but itโs also the time when the shortening days and general grimness of looming winter starts to gnaw at my general disposition.
Chatted to a local friend last night, who has helpfully encouraged me to join 2 budget-friendly evenings out this week.
Itโs nice and low-effort. Often ends up on as the last thing before bed when Iโm channel hopping but not really up for committing to anything entirely. Useful for a preview of new shows and it benefits from you tuning in to more episodes as you get to know the different contributors.

05.10.2025 23:10 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was a latecomer to Stranger Things but have watched the first 3 seasons over the last year. Interestingly, youโre the second person whoโs recently told me they got bored early on. I was certainly less gripped initially but intrigued enough to stick with it and get to a more bingeable point.
05.10.2025 23:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I only started watching odd episodes of Gogglebox in the last couple of years, but itโs often been useful for me to go, โYep, definitely donโt need to check out that show.โ
Iโve been presuming that I Kissed a Girl/Boy are the low-budget homosexual equivalent.
Strictlyโs cultural ubiquity means I kind of know how it works, but only saw Brucie presenting the end when it used to be on before Doctor Who.
For ages I assumed Love Island was this tiny barely watched thing on ITV2, but then had a couple of jobs where I was the only person not watching it.
Line of Duty. Iโve seen the first episode twice but never found time for the rest.
Also Love Island and (probably the biggest) Strictly Come Dancing. Neither are my sort of thing.
Do you have a gill measurer or do you convert them?

Watched GoldenEye at the cinema today for its 30th anniversary. Always been a favourite.
I love the series figuring itself out post-Cold War and how this โmisogynistic dinosaurโ fits. Trevelyan makes a great villain. Brosnanโs Bond has a lot of fun and the tank chase remains a highlight.

The fact that she had an 80% chance of being completely cured if sheโd had treatment seems to make it worse. This wasnโt a young person with an incredibly bleak diagnosis desperately clutching at something. I feel so sorry for her brothers, who clearly canโt have a relationship with their parents.

Not a classic sketch but curiously uses the Blakeโs 7 theme roughly one month after the broadcast of Terminal.
Iโd love to know why they picked the theme for this sketch.
We had email through Sky before we had a family PC. It was my first introduction to anything online, before I understood what โinternetโ really was. My uncle had just moved to Australia so my dad and I started emailing him.

30.09.2025 07:58 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had a fantastic childrenโs encyclopaedia (possibly Kingfisher) and particularly liked the section on space that explained the solar system. I was horrified that our sun would die one day and concerned that we needed an Earth exit plan.
28.09.2025 23:37 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It can be hard to fill in gaps for people whose careers finished before my memory starts. Some simply donโt crop up now in nostalgia or history run-downs. Shows that were the equivalent of The One Show - always there, well-known, but not must-watch - arenโt repeated.
28.09.2025 21:00 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0As someone relatively clued up on old TV who was born in the 90s, my blank spots include:
People who only appeared as presenters/guests, especially average shows with no nostalgia
Shows that arenโt drama or comedy - less likely to have DVD releases
Certain factual shows - rarely if ever repeated
Couple of other things in mindโฆ
