Four artists made this drawing in the Surrealist game called “The Exquisite Corpse.” Yves Tanguy began this sketch at the top. He then folded the paper and handed it to Joan Miró, who could see only the lines where Tanguy had ended. Max Morise and Man Ray completed the drawing.

In France this summer, I met artist David Audibert selling his relief prints on the streets of the ancient Provençal village of Goult. I bought this piece titled “Ronde de Nuit” (The Night Witch); fitting for this time of year, both in subject and color.

Governments don’t announce “we’re fasciest now,” but when they announce they’re against anti-fasciests, the reality becomes clear.
