I mentioned this in the quoted message, but AFAIK due to development hell it was considered graphically outdated when it came out thanks to the advent of 3D graphics and also old-fashioned in general. But it's indeed an example of the pinnacle of 2D pixel graphics and animation.

I'll say that I've always been surprised about this, since as a teen I did the puzzle without having found the fossil clue, and back then considered it interesting but not particularly hard - only to find out later that apparently it was That One Puzzle for many in The Dig.

I do! I have an original copy although I'm not entirely sure where the CD has ended up, however I did rebuy it to have a version which works easily in modern systems.

You don't even have to be popular, I once uploaded a commission art with a story to FA, and someone didn't like the ending so they had an LLM generate a new ending and proudly posted it into the comments under my submission.

Since I've been heavily inspired by Tom Fischbach's Twokinds recently, I came up with an OC for a futuristic #Twokinds AU - captain Rauru, a heavily cyborgized and altered Keidran "anti-human" operative who ends up with serious regrets and decides to try to make amends after the end of a major war.

It's basically possible to get any replacement part for them in my experience, however the downside is that they're wired with a *very* heavy (but indestructible) cable, plus they cost like $350 *without* a cable which you must buy separately for another $50-$100.

I bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT290 headphones in 2003, and I'm still using them, although they are wired headphones and I *have* replaced parts over time since the headband padding and velours don't last forever. Also I once shattered one of the ear muff forks, and put in new elements in 2024.

They've all essentially made themselves into critical infrastructure all while hiding behind the "private company" moniker so that they can make their own rules and enforce them in near-complete impunity.

I very much agree! There are certain situations where having a visual explanation works, but generally I find videos to be a very cumbersome and exhausting way of finding out what I need to do, since I can't just easily pore over them the way I can do with text.

Yep, this is basically the issue with automated reporting systems which have zero context awareness, although I'm assuming this was compounded by extreme corporate CYA procedures on Google's side - the one thing with Chat Control is that *presumably* you'd have legal protections.

I'm sort of expecting something like this from EU's repeated attempts at push through their Chat Control which IIRC is meant to literally analyze your screen when you post *any* messages and flag anything "suspicious". Since the volume is impossible for humans while automated methods are still junk.

Exactly. AFAIK, the idea is to scan everything at the end devices and forbid client programs from preventing that, which is especially easy these days due to how most people use heavily locked down mobile devices where this could be trivially implemented.
