Looks like the Hoxton hotel, formerly the central hotel, is opening its bars this Thursdayโ€ฆ. Must pop in and have a small drink in the Library Bar, itโ€™s been a while and I have missed the place.

Stories like this are why I forget that the Tories lost the last UK General electionโ€ฆ

Weather is miserable, and despite best efforts I spent a lot of time walking outside today. Now home and heating is turned on for the first time this winter.

Canโ€™t believe they went with the ok Jersey Cream instead of the amazing custard cream!

One of the stranger aspects of all this anger is the constant belief that people only have a different opinion to you because they are paid to; it is unthinkable that somebody might just disagree with you on their own dime.
The BBC paid me to say that, by the way.

They generally only do a very low level of advertising. The numbers must be significantly down if they are pushing so hard.

Saw a news report yesterday about children as young as 9 being given weight loss jabs on the NHS, and I think it shows just how utterly bullshit the โ€œlack of research into long term impactsโ€ excuse for banning puberty blockers for trans kids really was. Itโ€™s purely ideological.

This is the kind of rubbish I would expect from anti eu peopleโ€ฆ.

I will say PR-STV took a very long time to do that here. We had one big party who pretty much won every election from 1937 to 2011โ€ฆ. If people want to vote for a party no system will balance it out, as that is what the people want

01.11.2025 22:28 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

But we run it on pen, paper and people in Ireland. That sounds like an odd excuse

01.11.2025 19:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The same reason the government (FF) tried to change the system in Ireland to first past the post in the 1950โ€™s, they believe it is better for them to stay in power.

Grand, never sure how people mean terms.

Is that keeping single seat constituencies? I think single seat constituencies can have some PR, but may not produce on a national level.

Nothing that depends on trickle down economics is worth it.

01.11.2025 14:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Exactly. I donโ€™t like horror, so I donโ€™t read it. I also donโ€™t judge the quality of work based on if I like it. ( at least I try)

01.11.2025 13:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 7    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This is the consequence of pandering to the far right - they feel untouchable. People could have died. They could literally have murdered people.

01.11.2025 11:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 67    ๐Ÿ” 21    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

As far as I can tell a lot of the reasoning for this is effectively trickle down economics!

01.11.2025 12:28 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I do think people need to learn to stop doing things they donโ€™t like. I used to force my way through a book or series. It was very freeing to realise I could just stop and put it down.

Thatโ€™s scary stuff all rightโ€ฆ. Hopefully you will be able to recover and enjoy London!

Doing something similar here in Lanesborough park.

At this point "new record of homelessness" is so routine that it disgusts me. Our government have so so much to answer for and this is a scandal that should follow everyone who has overseen it to their sleepless beds at night, on every holiday they take, every moment of carefree celebration.

The rolling thunder of the fireworks is loud, I am glad I donโ€™t have pets or I expect they would be very unhappy!

I've literally sat down with Bjo Trimble, the woman who helped save Star Trek.

Fuck off with your 'only men are Star Trek fans' nonsense.

Also Bjo is a legend, and John was awesome too :)
