Stunning Adrienne Ames in a gown that seems to capture the last blooms of summer. Ames began in Hollywood as Pola Negri's stand-in, then moved into supporting roles in films such as Merrily We Go to Hell and You're Telling Me!. She eventually left the business and, sadly, died young of cancer.

This is a photo of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the turn of the 20th century. The walls were painted by a surgeon who wanted to give patients something to look at while they waited for their anesthesia. A beautiful merging of art and medicine.
