I’d go a step more. Is their position that when a Democrat is in the WH, the Supreme Court is above all other branches, but when a Republican/Trump is in the WH, the executive is above all else? That seems to be their position.

In 2023, NY contributed $89 billion more to the federal government than we received. Undocumented immigrants in NYC contributed $3 billion. So in theory we could just stop giving Republicans federal subsidies and pay for that marginal $18 billion in infrastructure directly and have a big surplus.

Donald Trump Is Making a Mistake That Blew Up in Thomas Jefferson’s Face
The indictment of Comey echoes a case that diminished the powers of the presidency.
ANALYSIS: Thomas Jefferson tried to prosecute a political foe and it backfired. Donald Trump is making the same mistake, writes historian @joshuamzeitz.bsky.social.

So much wrong with this. But let’s just pull one thread. If they wanted a “post-racial nation,” maybe they could have cooled it with the long-form birth certificate shit. Idk. I’m just spitballing here.

Democratic leadership is badly misreading the moment. I’m not a “let it all burn” type, but if he really intends to let it burn, it won’t be Democrats who catch the blame.

This feels like a massive self own. Voters like national parks. They get testy when the IRS doesn’t return calls about tax refunds. I imagine ICE agents will be none to keen to work for free. Who exactly would all of this benefit politically? Not Republicans.

What a headline. It speaks to how much we’ve normalized this Supreme Court’s lawlessness. Imagine a world in which a Democratic president asked SCOTUS to void the Second Amendment and nullify citizens’ rights to own, say, hunting rifles. “Most experts say it’s legally dubious but…”

A couple weeks ago, these blowdried chucklefucks were "joking" about how they should reclaim the word Nazi and now they're "joking" about blowing up the UN or gassing the foreign leaders inside.
But they didn't say anything questionable about Charlie Kirk, so no big deal.

The story is not that he signed the order. It’s that the order isn’t legal, isn’t binding, is yet another effort to govern as a king rather that the president of a democratic republic, with two co-equal branches of government.

Trump to Sign Order Renaming the Defense Department as the Department of War
Corporate media proving again that it’s not suited to the moment. Congress created the Dept of Defense through the National Security Act Amendments of 1949, which Truman signed into law. Trump can no more undo this unilaterally than he can rename Mars Trump Word.
