Good overview of the battles ahead for AMR, food and medicine. If only we had effective vet vaccines that reduced AMR in food-producing animals… hmmm… Beef, pork, chicken: the world loves cheap meat. If people knew what really goes in it, that love affair would be over | Devi Sridhar

An eternal truth I stumbled across watching a stand-up clip from @danagould.bsky.social, which explains so much of the nonsense I see on social media:

Evaluating the impact of two decades of USAID interventions and projecting the effects of defunding on mortality up to 2030: a retrospective impact evaluation and forecasting analysis USAID funding has significantly contributed to the reduction in adult and child mortality across low-income and middle-income countries over the past two decades. Our estimates show that, unless the a...

Elon Musk casually, and illegally, dismantled USAID. According to a new study in the Lancet, that action will lead to *14 million* premature deaths between 2025 and 2030.

Again: Elon Musk is directly responsible for 14 million coming deaths. 4.5 million will be children.

Reactogenicity. A scientific term to describe the strength of the immune response to a vaccine. This is not the same as adverse effects and is very important to understand.

Reactogenicity is the physiological response to being vaccinated; your immune response is responding to the vaccine.

Proud that our Taoiseach of @gov.ie was there! Vaccines effectively allow people to live healthy lives. GAVI levelled the playing field of equitable access, saving millions of lives. Uncertain global health security now will haunt us all for decades to come, socially, economically and medically.

I bought a Moustache Samedi… absolute dream for 20-60km cycles. Nice upright, smooth ride. Not sure it would be the most agile sucking around traffic downtown. Downside is handlebars are square; most lights etc made for round bars!! Fab apart from that. Previous reply about motor etc very relevant.
