So it's okay to put down a project to come back to and there's nothing wrong with also never going back to something. Take what you can from each and let it help you with whatever is next. I also want to make a game someday and haven't really finished anything but I know a lot more. Rooting for you!

Something that helped me that I hope is helpful for you was being told that not all projects need to be finished. Sometimes the goal of a project is to try/learn something new which is a part of growing as a creative, and that can come at any point of the process.
