definitely agree that koch and the NCC people jumped on a highly productive trend in philosophy of that time. studies is more inclusive but i guess science gets more funding...

yeah thats how we used it in our map of consciousness science, but some philosophers & psychologists pointed out that they don't feel included

i agree, but coming from physics I had the feeling a small subset of physicists is well aware of that lack (especially in quantum physics)

looking at the recent ASSC and similar conferences I doubt that they can do without philosophy and the mind sciences

Since its such a young field I am still not sure how to call it. Consciousness Science? Consciousness Studies? Consciousness Research? Neuroscience of Consciousness?

defining consciousness is not only about identifiying necessary conditions. it fulfills more epistemological, interdisciplinary, and socio-cultural roles.

in the discussion we basically agreed that think and reason are equally problematic. it implies an intentionality that is just not there.
