Yes, the second half of S2 is important but it's relevance won't be obvious until either late S3 or S4.
The show's writer spoke to 2 main themes 1) the story isn't about cop and robbers, it's the story of how an industrial city dies, 2) "a fish rots from the head down".

If you substitute the name Joe Biden for Gavin Newsome. There were many who did the first but not the second.

Mentioned this yesterday but I can't see a Labour Govt in Westminster nor Burnham pledging public funds for a stadium at this point. It was already a tough sell given Ratcliffe is a tax exile.
With potentially no stadium on the horizon (and no legacy project), would JR want to continue? 🤷🤷

If Enrique extends his stay in Paris, Carrick might be the best option on the board.
In a way, I'd be totally fine with that outcome. He knows and cares about the club and changing mgrs this summer with the WC means you'd hamstring yourself for the 1st half of next season

Echoing other comments Ed, great piece. A damning indictment of those vile comments from Ratcliffe

Oh for the heady days when the worst thing about United's owners was they sold dodgy beef around town....and rumours of some slightly worrying behavior in hotel loos 😂

Slightly crazy thought...i don't believe this has ever been an investment for SJR, it's been about legacy. What if today's comments nullifies any chance of a positive legacy among supporters, let alone any potential support from the Labour Govt or locally via Burnham for a stadium? What then?

I can't say it's something I want.
And agree it's very unlikely. they've been asleep at the wheel for 20 odd years, there's no reason to think they'd suddenly take an interest.

In the same boat gents. I had believed he was the best of a very bad bunch, now it just feels like a bad bunch.
A very disheartening situation.

@nqatpod.bsky.social could the Glazers say 'You've shown little fwd progress on the pitch and you're damaging the brand + our 70% stake every time you open your mouth. Time to go'
Not sure whether they have that right in the deal but SJR's comments will have gone down poorly nearly everywhere.

Well said Shane.
If 'putting Manchester back into United' is still a part of SJR's plan, I'd like to remind him that MCR is a city of immigrants, whether that's Irish immigration in the 1800s or immigration from the Commonwealth and elsewhere in the 1900s and 2000s.

An absolutely vile man...and somehow still marginally preferable to the Glazers or State Ownership...but the case for his ownership gets more difficult every time he opens his mouth.

There were stories last week that Anderson and City had some sort of pre-agreement. Did that turn out to be nonsense (please say 'yes')?

A bit like the 2 all draw at Leeds. Would have liked all 3 but nothing to be overly mithered about.

The funny thing is he's not been much better than average (which is totally reasonable given his age and 1st season in the Prem) and even that is a massive difference from where the bar had been with AO and AB.

He's a fullback being asked to play like a fullback rather than a unicorn of a player tasked with being both a world class attacker and a member of a back 5.

Here's another practical reason...the WC Final is July 19, meaning the new man may not be in situ until August. Obviously if it's Enrique, Nagelsman, et al you likely take the short term pain for the long term win but that's a big "if".

I don't mean any disrespect to the opinions above but...
The counter to "give him time" is what if after all the time, the ideal state doesn't work? Football moves really quickly and football may well have moved on by time RA arrived at his ideal state.
It was a very diff situ to SAF in 1990

I think this plays out similar to the EtH situation. Let's say he finishes 4th or 5th, they likely operate as if the seat is open. I can see them interviewing others for at least diligence before potentially opting for Carrick. Fwiw, it's not pretty but I think it's the right approach.
