Good morning! Please see the attached memo issued from the Florida Department of Education regarding HB549: Gulf of America. Schools are advised to apply an adhesive note stating the change from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America to all non-fiction books with these references ACQUIRED AFTER JULY 1, 2025. You are NOT required to search existing library materials. As the term "library materials" includes all classroom libraries for self-selected reading, this rule also applies to classroom libraries. These adhesive labels were given to media specialists at our meeting on November 18, 2025 and I am in the process of ordering more.
