Thank you Senator Tony Dean for speaking to my motion. His remarks capture the devastating human toll of this conflict, and the urgency for Canada to act — to examine the risk of complicity and uphold our commitment to international humanitarian law.

This motion isn’t abstract or theoretical. It’s a call for accountability. It’s a call for transparency. It’s a call for Canada to live up to its responsibilities on the world stage. 2/3

I recently met with James Elder from @unicef.org who is in Ottawa to inform Canadians about urgent humanitarian and educational needs in Gaza, amid a precarious ceasefire. Canada did not do enough to prevent atrocities. For a time, we even stopped funding to @unrwa.org. Will we step up now?

Why bother?
Because I wouldn’t be this passionate, confident, and consistent about Covid Awareness if I didn’t know how dangerous it is and how much damage it can cause.
If you think I’m wrong, prove it, I’d love that.
Stay safe.

It took Canada over a decade to acknowledge and apologize for its inaction on the Rwandan genocide. Will it take as long again on Palestine?

In the face of mounting evidence and multiple warnings from the International Court of Justice, Canada continued to defend Israel’s actions in Gaza. The world was told to prevent genocide. What did Canada do?
