With Mel, we launched Freeman Fridays, which brought an end to the use of grand juries to cover up for police murders in Hennepin County. Mel was also a journalist and an activist who dedicated his life to the fight for a better world. #BlackHistoryMonth

Mel drew from his many years of experience as a freedom fighter and activist to engage the community to rally for the cause of Justice 4 Jamar. Because of the visionary Mel Reeves, that TCC4J was formed, and held its biggest-ever organizing meetings, filling the basement of his church, Zion Baptist.

The history of TCC4J began in the ingenious mind of Mel Reeves. Following the murder of Jamar Clark by MPD, it was Mel who had the idea to form a coalition. He had the foresight to see the torch would need to be carried for Jamar Clark long after the occupation of the 4th Precinct.
