Also worth noting: In Montana, Zooey Zephyr did the opposite. She stood by her position without compromise, and she got stripped of a lot of power. There's no winning. (But I'm prouder of Zephyr than of McBride. AND Zephyr just got reelected.)

I honestly don't know what I would be doing in her situation, but as someone who decides multiple times a day which battles I'm going to fight and which I'll cede, I can understand her frustration. Once I figure my own sh** out, I'll consider judging her.

Also: If McBride caves publicly, there's a decent chance Congress will go back to ignoring trans interns in the correct bathrooms, but Mace has indicated that if she doesn't get her way, she wants a bill to ban trans people from ALL bathrooms. There's logic in a short-term loss for a long-term win.

While I understand what you're saying, I also understand where she is coming from. She's a woman, and she's already been THAT TRANS PERSON for too long. At some point, don't we get to be people, and do something other than defend ourselves?

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Every month, multiple trans people (mostly women of color) are killed in this country for who they are. There is zero evidence of trans women attacking cis women in bathrooms. Focus on the real danger, not baseless paranoia.
