Take care dear friend.

Living in the pool sounds fun though.

Though the book, I hope to combat misinformation (as per the OP) circulating in Singapore by people whoโ€™ve not been harmed through the programme.

This is the first book of its kind and itโ€™s currently not available in the public libraries so do get it for your queer Christian friend if need be.

Fearfully & Wonderfully Made: Stories from Conversion Therapy Survivor This is a book of stories from conversion therapy survivors in Singapore. Honest, vulnerable, and heartbreaking, the book aims to explain the harm repressing one's innate sexual orientation can cause....

Included are stories of people whoโ€™ve been through conversion therapy in Singapore.

Someone who had to take time off from uni to recover from his mental breakdown aft the programme, a person who was suicidal after it & a Catholic kid brought in by his parents.

Singaporeโ€™s version of conversion therapy came from USA when Sy Rogers planted the Asia Pacific headquarters of Exodus International here.

Even after it shut down, they continued is still running today.

I wrote a book about it.

Simply put: fict/fact/fuct -
Fict = a fact in a fictional narrative;
Fact = held as true by a faction; and
Fuct = a fact that has been sold to people as if itโ€™s good for them when โ€˜in factโ€™ itโ€™s just the opposite.
- I wonder what Fred wouldโ€™ve made of this momentโ€ฆ

Okay that might be too many but you get the idea.

Maybe I should narrow it down to two books but it's a little tough.

Hmm. Decisions.

Kinda like:

- Boy Erased (Garrard Conley) meets

- Crazy Rich Asians (Kevin Kwan) meets

- An Unquiet Mind (Kay Redfield Jamison) meets

- My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (Nagata Kabi) meets

- Genderqueer (Maia Kobabe)

- Without Buddha I Could Not Be A Christian (Paul F. Knitter)

My pitch is that it's a non-binary gay girl in Singapore who survives conversion therapy & seeks treatment for dysphoria while learning to accept herself & broadens her theological horizons by taking part in interfaith discussions as books and writing keeps her alive.

Okay that might be a tad long.

The Impossible Cartoonist โ€” Singapore Unbound Y.S. Pek explores the different pathways of reading Sonny Liew's Eisner-winning graphic novel The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye.

6. There have been so many literary analysis of Charlie Chan.

Hereโ€™s one from the Second Singapore Literature Festival held in NYC.

5. Singapore is a tiny country & I went to Sonny Liewโ€™s garage sale last year where I got 7 graphic novels for a steal as he was clearing out his bookshelves for a renovation.

Heโ€™s a soft-spoken and humble guy who has a true passion for comics.

Quite deserving of the international accolades.

1. This is one of Singaporeโ€™s bestselling book, largely due to the Streisand effect.

The National Arts Council pulled the $8000 grant it gave as it โ€œpotentially undermines the authority or legitimacy" of the ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ govt.

It promptly sold out at Kinokuniya.
