I'm truly grateful to the kind soul, my friend, who introduced me to Unflattening (I believe it's a local comics lover & Singapore's first graphic novelist - Gwee Li Sui).

And looking forward to your 2nd book even as I read Unflattening for the fourth time in a bit.

I've often found that there is great misogyny (whether subtle or overt) in various spiritual traditions I've been a part of, whether it might be Christianity, Buddhism, or Taoism.

It is most unfortunate but true.

On that note, now that I have a Japanese gf I’ve been seeing for a year, I find that oftentimes Japanese translations of books into English, I suspect have something lost in translation.

First is: Sheep 🐏
Hitsuji Jinja 羊神社 is supposedly one of only two sheep shrines in all of Japan! (the other is in Gunma Pref according to the priest).

Though the book, I hope to combat misinformation (as per the OP) circulating in Singapore by people who’ve not been harmed through the programme.

This is the first book of its kind and it’s currently not available in the public libraries so do get it for your queer Christian friend if need be.

Fearfully & Wonderfully Made: Stories from Conversion Therapy Survivor This is a book of stories from conversion therapy survivors in Singapore. Honest, vulnerable, and heartbreaking, the book aims to explain the harm repressing one's innate sexual orientation can cause....

Included are stories of people who’ve been through conversion therapy in Singapore.

Someone who had to take time off from uni to recover from his mental breakdown aft the programme, a person who was suicidal after it & a Catholic kid brought in by his parents.

Singapore’s version of conversion therapy came from USA when Sy Rogers planted the Asia Pacific headquarters of Exodus International here.

Even after it shut down, they continued is still running today.

Fict = a fact in a fictional narrative;
Fact = held as true by a faction; and
Fuct = a fact that has been sold to people as if it’s good for them when ‘in fact’ it’s just the opposite.

Okay that might be too many but you get the idea.

Maybe I should narrow it down to two books but it's a little tough.
