New week and now the question arises: starting another #Anno1800 round before the sequel or going full on #Gamedev and work on #Odium?

Playing Avowed kept me from opening #UnrealEngine Editor for more then a week (nearly two). And I don't regret it!
Developing Games is one of the best Hobby, playing exceptional games is another one.

Only downside are the performance issues. Manageable but still annoying

Finally* finished #Avowed. It was a blast. The Story was great, I didn't expected nothing less from @obsidian.net And the Living lands looked so beautiful. And the fighting with its flexibility made so much fun. Spellcasting Rogue Fighter FTW!

Can't wait for the next Adventure in Eora

Would really be interested in fiction where a devil uses GenAI to create a cult.
When became reality so fictional?
Neuromancer will be a happy bedtime story in the future. And Cyberpunk2077 a cozy game.

When I created the first cutscene for #Odium I only moved a camera, try to mimic head movement and avoid looking at angles where a body should be. Now working on the second one I animate a #Metahuman Due to First person still have a lot of possibilities to cut corners.

When I opened the main project again I had news aspects and could finally solve the issue.

For this I take a break, best at every major accomplishment or roadblock (disclaimer I don’t develop games as my main profession.)
I had this huge GC bug right when I wanted to release the first level. Had to take nearly a month of not working on the game. Experimented a little bit somewhere else.

I feel you. There were so many times I fell into total despair. Working on the same project now for over a year now. The good thing as solo dev is, the project itself has a lot of different aspects so I get my fix of new stuff. But every time I need to polish smth, it feels like an agonising chore

Main routes are established for the second level of #Odium. Even though there is a lot of stuff missing it is time to play test. And I hate it. Testing my own games is just a date with imposter syndrome and regretting what I did in the past.

either the last one or the one before. There is also a third Person shooter, which gives a nice insight into AI Controller. So much fun stuff.

This blueprint reminds me also of my first game I made in Unreal. I watched/followed a tutorial from @gamedevtv.bsky.social helped me a lot and gave me a strong foundation to develop myself further.

Created my first animation in #UnrealEngine5
Nothing special, but I’m proud of it.
It also showed me, some errors in my #Metahuman
Somehow, the Mesh it is retargeted to is approx 10cm taller. Now it has a z-scale of 0.9 while the body 1.1 due to being a child.

Finally got some drive back to work on #Odium. Last couple of weeks wasn't really as planned, but the Forest starts to become the hellish environment it is meant to be. #ADHD be like work on everything a little bit. At least one ending riddle is finished.

For basic boilerplating it can be a timesaver but if you write something which isn’t written a hundred times, it can suck pretty fast.
