We’ll never mind Auntie. You can always collect or buy some wildflower providence, and as one of my favourite Olde Hippie lines from the Moody Blues has it, “scatter good seed in the fields”.

There is some deep horticultural philosophy to be explored there. Here is how I imagine you, courtesy (if I dare admit it) of ChatGPT.

He got 3 very fat mackerel, perfect to feed his family, plus a flotsam water pistol! I got 8 which will feed a few folks at the GalGael in Govan. Just look at the way the sun is shining off them.

You’ve not had the gamekeeper after you yet?!
It looked like wasteland, but near houses, so I’d not be surprised if it has a secret carer.

I exaggerate not. Look at all the Red Admirals on these flowers, which also attracted all manner of other insects. Can anyone put us right as to what the plant is?

10.08.2025 19:39 — 👍 8 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 1What an astonishing day! Vérène and I found a secluded corner of Robert Owen’s New Lanark world heritage site just outside Glasgow, and a cloud of butterflies arose, including here (I think) Red Admiral, Comma, Something White and Peacock. Not just the odd one or two, but dozens!

The police in footage yesterday looked not at all happy about what they were ordered to do. It can put disciplined forces in a very difficult position. But I am reminded of the action of St Andrew’s follower Stratocles who resigned his commission (pp. 65-65): www.alastairmcintosh.com/articles/200...
