Possibly there was just a misunderstanding when Noem said Corey was high on the β€œorg chart.”

Can’t Congress just direct them to fund current operations with previously appropriated funds?

I love how Vance has to check to see how he should vote. πŸ˜‚

A reminder that state legislatures can play a role in investigating such abuses.

I am not sure how one would test such a law. If the president decided to nominate someone without the required qualifications and the Senate confirmed then, who would have standing to sue?

I dunno, Kel, the alligator thing sounds plausible to me. I’m just spitballing, but maybe one of the alligators took the form of the girl he ate and now serves as press secretary?

Stranger things have happened.

Is referring to lawyers as β€œAttorney ____” now a thing? I had a pro bono client that called me Attorney Stern in the 1980s and I don’t think I have heard it since.

I personally do not want to be ruled by Trump or Mamdani, even if I generally agreed with either of them (which I don’t).

I gathered from your comment that you don’t want structural reforms that might limit the amount of power β€œwe” are going to get. My point was that whoever β€œwe” might be, concentrated power tends to sound better before you realize it is exercised by someone else purporting to act on your behalf.

As many Republicans have learned to their dismay, all the power β€œwe” will have sounds great until you realize β€œyou” are not the one who actually controls the power.

I am not sure which part of this you are asking about. You could have RCV for senators without an amendment (I think) but not legislative appointment, much less altering the legislative function of the Senate.

Well, arguably you are dissolving the compact on which the Constitution is based if you change Article V in that way.

09.12.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You can’t get that without a constitutional amendment and maybe not even then.

I have seen it both ways but I would have said H. Res. or H. J. Res. was correct. My copy of the Bluebook is from 1983 so I am not much of a stickler on following it.
