Yeah, I started a shawl instead of the red hat, so I need to finish that first.

Ooo. I had no idea, so thanks for the heads up. That had is on my list. I've bought the pattern, but I think I may be making my own with red yarn that I already own (size 6 - super bulky).

As is tradition, I crocheted the kid a small amigurumi and drew him a card, which says: I hope you have a TOTORO-LY awesome Valentine's Day!

Christmas Capybara pattern by Demi Tran This is Crochet Doll Pattern/ Amigurumi Pattern of CHRISTMAS CAPYBARA in PDF file, NOT the actual toys. The file will be available for download immediately after purchase.

I was looking for a crochet pattern for something entirely different, and came across this one: www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...

1. Squee!
2. I thought you needed to see it!

So beautiful! I admire your commitment to getting all those eyes and fins on.

We've had weeks of above freezing temperatures, and our north-facing back yard is a sheet of ice, except where the sun reaches it (back 1/4 at best). Our front yard (south of the house) is almost completely bare.

I will read the article, but so far I've only looked an the images. His work is so pretty!

Lovely colour on you, and coordinates nicely with your top.

It is so precious! I have one tiny glass dragon that would fit in one of those compartments, but I don't know what else.

*line. I didn't notice the misspelling until after I posted (as usual).

This entire thread is πŸ”₯, but the like "You do not get structural outcomes without structural causes" made me pause. Very true!

Lots of stress right now, so I spent yesterday crocheting. This blanket took 8 skeins of yarn, and when I started yesterday there I had only finished one skein. The kid loves it.

It's gorgeous, and that seems like a good price for it. But I also have a workable umbrella swift, and with how often I buy hanks (not frequently)... I'm not sure I could justify it for myself.

I also lack a great place to display it...

I get that. I like beans, but the kid doesn't, so he just eats the pasta. πŸ˜‚

When I make minestrone, I ALWAYS cook the pasta separately... And they I don't eat it myself. But spouse likes it so here we are.

I've also not used spinach, just cabbage. I want to see what you think about the spinach!

You know... I should try to find a cephalopod countdown for the kid's birthday. πŸ€”

You had better put tiny dinosaurs in it for one of those times!

Also same.

I'm proud of myself for changing majors when I realized journalism wasn't a good fit. Gave me skills to make other similar changes later.

Same and same. I loathe cold calling.

You hit the nail on the head for me! "Journalism was a poor personality fit".

I hear you on career counseling. Looking back, I think I would have enjoyed pharmacy, but I didn't even know how to pursue that when I was in high school. All I can to now is provide better advice to my kid.

05.02.2026 20:46 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I like the way you measure. I'm the same way. Drives my child nuts.

05.02.2026 16:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

OK, the shape alone makes me happy!

I started university as a print journalism major because I wanted to be a technical writer, but I quickly changed majors because of photography. 3 science degrees later, and I AM a technical writer... I just took a long detour to get here.

Still glad I switched from journalism to chemistry!

Oof. I'm so sorry. Those knee scrapes look painful.

Get some hydrocolloid bandages. I fell off my bike in the fall, resulting in a wound almost to the bone on my knee. Hydrocolloid bandages helped the healing SO MUCH!

I'm sending healing thoughts your way from Edmonton

I've got a pair of heated gloves, which are quite nice. I've seen heated socks and sweatshirts, too. I wonder if something like that might help your feet?
