Hard not to simply call Labour evil at this point honestly.

Speaking as a stroke survivor, it would be really cool if people stopped blaming his shift to the right on his stroke, brain damage, etc. After my CVT, I had to relearn how to read, write, and speak, but you know what I didn't have to relearn? How to not be a racist asshole.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

I sure hope it permanently takes down anyone who is implicated or ran cover for someone who is, and the sooner the better. When you clean out the stables you get clean stables.

Starmer said "if you don't like it, leave" and was shocked when we all said "bet".

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

1/ Eleven Dutch parties across the political spectrum from socialist to conservative have issued a joint appeal to a provincial government to build a memorial to Black American soldiers who died in World War II, to replace one removed from the Netherlands American Cemetery. ⬇️

Harm to SNAP recipients, federal workers, and others is real. In a normal democracy it’d make sense to prioritize reducing that harm in the short term.

In a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Davie did everything he could to go after leftwing politics. He axed The Mash Report and censored the Gaza documentary among other things.

But the fact that he is resigning due to Trumpist pressure is incredibly concerning. This country is being more and more captured by the American regime.

He’s been conditioned for decades to flee the scene of friends’ overdoses to keep the family name out of the papers. He saw the dude collapse and rich kid autopilot kicked in. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨

It’s force of habit. Those are the actions of a rich kid who’s had to flee the scene of multiple friends’ overdoses to keep the family name out of the papers.

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

Rewatching Zohran's victory speech bit by bit and it's hard not to be emotional about it - it's an appeal to hope and courage but also to the fundamental idea of living in society, together. Feels like we've been starved, often deliberately, of that kind of thinking

Picture is of Tom Hanks, sitting on a subway train with his legs crossed, wearing black boots and black pants with a green sweater and a green toque sitting on orange chair. He’s holding onto a support pole, and wearing a black respirator. Behind him on the walls, the subway map.

When asked by Stephen Colbert why he was wearing a mask in public, Tom Hanks said..

β€œI’ve had Covid enough in my life I don’t need to do that again. I’m wearing this for health reasons”

More celebrities need to speak out like this.
