Villains used to obfuscate. They looked normal on tv and said things like "Fiscal discipline." Now you have grotesque guys hissing "Empathy is weakness" like a cartoon

These are slave catchers. Their model is directly from slave catching .

They are following the blueprint America BUILT for attacking racialized property

Not breaking news: women can be sexist too.

A consistent finding of the last, oh, 40 years of experimental sociology is that female subjects -- inc employers and, one suspects, NYT op-ed writers -- are as likely to believe negative stereotypes about and discriminate against women as male subjects.

Newsmax Gets Fooled by AI Video, Broadcasts Entire Segment as If It Was Real Joining right wing compatriots Fox News, Newsmax also presented an AI-generated video as real to bash on food stamp recipients.

They were not fooled, tricked, manipulated, hoodwinked, or bamboozled. They posted the videos because it matches their ideology and illustrates their preferred narrative. That’s it.

A 4-panel comic. I see a balloon on the floor. I say "Balloon kick!!" as I attempt to kick it, but instead hit my foot on the table leg nearby. The next panel, my husband tries to kick the balloon too but hits his foot on the wall instead. The last panel just reads "SPORTS: we no good"

Strict school vaccine mandates work, and parents don’t game the system − new research When states prohibit parents from opting their kids out of vaccines for religious, philosophical or other nonmedical reasons, communities stay better protected against infectious diseases.

Kindergarten vaccination rates jumped substantially in four states that eliminated nonmedical exemptions between 2015 and 2021. A new study found parents didn't simply shift to medical exemptions instead – they protected their children.

No matter how hard people try to convince us having empathy is wrong,

it is right.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness,

it is a strength.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited,

it is unlimited.

Part of the turnaround has to be getting corporate money out of politics.

More fun and joy in general. Elected Dems should be setting up volunteer cafeterias, block parties with great bands, and intentionally multigenerational town halls. They should be pulling fun but meaningful stunts like poetry contests and pickleball tournaments.

Hi there,

I was initially interested in attending your upcoming event in [REDACTED], until I saw that you used genAI to generate the promo image for your event (see image attached). Upon looking at your website, I see the same is true of the various other events being held nationwide.

As a professional artist, it disappoints me to see an increasing number of events such as yours going the genAI route.

I understand that you may not be able to afford to commission an artist/designer to create such promo images, but when I see genAI being utilised (rather than just using free-to-use stock photos or images), that tells me that my custom isn't wanted.

I sincerely hope that, in future, you rethink your use of genAI. Otherwise, I will have to take my money elsewhere.

Regards,

John Cullen

Hi John,
Thanks for the contact.
Sorry to hear that you are taking our use of AI generated images so seriously.
I am 71, I work hard at selling and buying records. I used to do the
posters and all the ads for Irish Record Fairs, but due to time
constraints, I have asked some of the other traders to help out with
ads, organising and promotions. Therefore , they , who are also doing
it as a favour, don't have a lot of time to put into designing and
printing/posting images for every new fair - usually 2 a week.
As we are not doing any artist out of a job, because we would be doing
the artwork ourselves anyway, I don't see the issue in continuing with
what a lot of people have found to be humorous and alternative event
posters.
Thanks for your understanding, and I hope to see you at the event anyway.
Kind Regards

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.

The trouble with genAI images is that they are not created from scratch: they are what amounts to a digital patchwork based on massive databases of existing art by actual artists, that was added to those databases without their permission.

For many professional artists --myself included-- genAI is a potential threat to our livelihoods. So, when they see events like yours utilising this technology, it is basically telling us that you no longer wish to receive their custom.

I just want you to keep that in mind in future when you promote your events in this manner.

John Cullen

I was initially interested in checking out a local record fair, until I saw they were using genAI to promote it. So, I decided to email the organiser.

I'm not at all surprised by their response.

Because it is the power of PEOPLE
