The great irony here is that Vance’s entire identity is built around a rejection of WASPs and their social/cultural values, upon which our entire political system is based. He is the problem that he is trying to solve.

Millions of Americans losing health care is catastrophic for them and endangers our entire system, undermining our hospitals and clinics as there are less people helping to balance payments and more people entering our emergency rooms.

This crisis can be avoided.

The wealth of the richest 1% in America just hit a record $52 trillion. These are the people getting huge tax cuts — paid for by cuts to health care for millions of Americans. Every lie Trump and Republicans are telling right now about the shutdown is meant to distract you from this.

I don’t have a crystal ball, but I have a good idea how this shutdown ends. Trump and Republicans will cave (he won’t admit he’s caving, of course, but he will cave).
