I had been playing on Arena and bought enough paper cards again to start playing/losing in Modern. The day before I was gonna go, they announced UB in all formats. I didn't go and haven't bought any MTG since. Sad; it's been part of my life since the mid-90's (Fallen Empires).

I honestly think one reason Millennials are so angry about all this is that many of us grew up during the brief period in American history where the official line was that we had won history *because* of our values, and most of us actually internalized that.

Obviously, UB has generated a bunch of money for Hasbro, so they'll do it, but I was one of those people who left over UB because I wasn't interested in IP soup. I don't think of it as Ivory Tower, I think of it as the game becoming something I wasn't interested in anymore. That was saddening.

New John Coltrane live music (from arguably his peak of creativity) is incredibly exciting. I guess I'm off to Record Store Day this year.

I like him as Robot Man on Doom Patrol. And God help me: in George of the Jungle.

So much to digest in this, but this is the first I've heard of a Duke Ellington opera. Apparently it was finished by other people and is commercially available on CD and has been staged a few times.

The Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland is the only movie I've ever seen about which I can find nothing positive to say. I was so furious leaving the theater.

Nope, I was wrong: it was the Dinner Party record (Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington) I saw.

This man says it better than I ever could, but two things:

1. I loved seeing that Robert Glasper album (and was that a Butcher Brown I saw?)

2. I've never seen that Kind of Blue cover before and now I want it.

I taped it off TV when it initially aired. I really like Randall Flag in it; I've always pictured the character with that exact sort of "I'm kidding ya, but there's no joy in it" vibe. It's also extremely good to see Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee and Laura San Giacomo in anything at all.

Some people had some idea that I was going to save the world, it’s not my world how can I, all I got to talk about is folks getting together. In a big Universe like this, there ought to be something better than what there is..
