Furthermore it is not so unreasonable for an electorate to be frustrated that successive administrations of all parties have failed to notice this process - evident for at least two decades -until crisis point.
Which is a pattern, and perhaps why this issue is iconic of others.

Ok but a presumption of popular good faith and non-stupidity might help (at least if we want a democracy).
Reframe the question as 'how can town centres be re-imagined to be relevant to modern needs?'. Then find who has profited from their decline and find ways for them to pay for it.

Today we remember the Angelic Doctor, patron saint of terrible handwriting. In his honor, I am forging ahead with research for my illegibility project.

Such things I leave to the young as their proper province, and wish you all you can devour!
(But not for me. I'm a crap draft of a Beckett character abandoned as self parody and crumpled binwards as he headed out to the pub instead.)

Compulsive suckling on the drivel teat is a symptom of some other, sadder loss. Were I not myself so bereft perhaps I could name that loss but no, too far fallen. The meaningfulness of meaning perhaps.

Amen.
Among the many saddening dimensions hereof is the realisation not just how few people there are capable of or interested in discriminating between drivel and sense but - worse - how few times the difference matters in most people day to day production or reception of the written word.

As somebody who spent 15 years designing LOD platforms for assorted governments -for my sins - before pivoting to history I'd absolutely kill to attend some of these sessions.

100% but that's not Burnham.
Another example of Starmer's lack of nous. Coming second or third to a Green or Reform would have sunk Burnham forever. But they're just too rubbish at politics.

One suspects the exec have done him a favour - would have been greatly smarter to let him stand and watch him bury himself by coming second or third.
This way, he lives to fight another day, honour not only intact but looking righteous, shabbily treated & the guy of whom Starmer's afraid. Amateurs.
