Just listened to Day 2. A lot of fun! I've never read this comic strip (and I don't think I want to now!) How on Earth did no one at the BBC ever care or check these to ensure they felt like Doctor Who?! @wretchedmorgan.bsky.social

The latest @thedwshow.net is out, and we're looking at the writing of David Fisher!
A perhaps under-discussed writer?
Four very different stories to look at!
But some common themes and styles also in there...

As always please listen, and let us know what you think!

A rich, heady brew of sex, political detail, history, unknowable slathering horror, Gothic atmosphere and the absence left in the universe by the destruction of Gallifrey...but what will Joe & @onthetimelash.bsky.social make of it?

Christmas Ident Calendar Day 2. BBC1's Christmas pudding globe of 1977. The last year of Eric & Ernie & (for a bit), Bruce on the Beeb. They went to ITV in 1978. JICTAR's ratings, now considered definitive, has Mike Yarwood beating M & W on Christmas Day...just! 21.40m to 21.30m.

This is an advertisement for the Morris Marina, highlighting its value and practicality. It emphasizes the car's lack of unnecessary frills, its affordability, and its ease of maintenance. The ad features an image of the car and a text that positions it as a sensible choice for those seeking value and reliability.

You just can't get more value onto a page.

SUNDAY MIRROR, December 4, 1977
It's surprising how much money people
are prepared to pay for frills and fancies on a car,
and bewildering how they go on paying to keep
such expensive machinery on the road.
Morris build 10 Marina saloons and 2 estates for
people who want to run a totally satisfying car that isn't
a financial liability.
Because it's a Morris, there's nothing irrelevant
about the Marina. No gimmicks, just solid value. Every-
thing in a Marina does its job well: from engine to ashtray,
the Marina is a car that's been tried, proved and perfected.
Because it's a Morris, you're not spending money on
styling fads that fade overnight: you're buying
clean and classic looks that last. The spares you
may have to buy don't come from the ends of the
earth so they don't cost you the earth.
Because it's a Morris, there are no marathort trips to
find a garage that understands a Marina inside-out. It's
one of the easiest cars to service and maintain, which
takes a lot of the sting out of today's servicing costs. It uses
petrol as if every drop counted; in the 1977 Total Economy
Drive, the Marina 1-8 achieved an average 40-69 mpg.
There are many reasons why the Marina gives such
good value. Or perhaps just one – because it's a Morris.
From Leyland Cars. With Supercover.
Car featured Marina 1-8 HL 4-door Β£3314.61. Marina prices from Β£2380.95 including car tax, VAT and front seat belts. Delivery and number plates extra.

Photo of a TV showing the closing credits of The Twilight Zone: The Obsolete Man. There is a still from a scene in the episode of a courtroom. The walls are dark and featureless. There is a man at the top of a very tall podium, with another man sat beneath him at the end of a VERY long table. At the end of table nearest to the camera is the shape/back/silhouette of a man looking towards the other two. Watched a 'new' episode from 1961 of The #TwilightZone, The Obsolete Man. Interesting premise, well acted by Burgess Meredith. Pleasantly surprised to see Harold Innocent in a non-speaking role! Had no idea he worked in the US! Only know him from ITC shows, & Doctor Who.
