Agreed. In general, it is prudent to look at the business ventures of prominent Anti-vaxxers, as they are rarely (if ever) "pure-hearted" activists. Example: In the 1990's, Andrew Wakefield was developing a supposedly safer vaccine before being exposed as a fraudster.

There Is No Safe Word How the best-selling fantasy author Neil Gaiman hid the darkest parts of himself for decades.

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.

How Russia Openly Escalated Its Election Interference Efforts The Kremlin did not bother to hide its efforts to influence the 2024 presidential election, as it did in the past.

Russia did not bother to hide its efforts to influence the U.S. presidential election, as it had in the past. That left the American government with little to do except to rebut the Kremlin's falsehoods as they gained popularity.

A striking Puffin stands out against a deep blue backdrop, its bold black and white plumage sharply defined. Its vibrant orange beak, adorned with grooves, holds a cluster of glistening silver fish, their tiny eyes wide and scales catching the light. The Puffin’s round, expressive eye, ringed with orange, seems to look thoughtfully into the distance, as if contemplating its next flight over the open sea. This captivating moment showcases the bird’s expert fishing skills and the richness of its coastal habitat.

Puffins, Kittiwakes, Razorbills—the UK’s decision to end sandeel fishing was a hard-won lifeline for our struggling seabirds.

The EU’s move to challenge it risks undoing that progress. 🚨

We urge the Commission to support, not undermine, this key step for marine biodiversity.

The Onion buys conspiracy site Infowars at auction with help from Sandy Hook families | CBC News The satirical news publication The Onion won the bidding for Alex Jones's Infowars at a bankruptcy auction, backed by families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims whom Jones owes more than $1 billion US in defamation judgments for calling the massacre a hoax, the families announced Thursday.

You can't make this stuff up. And while this action does not punish the perpetrator enough, it is a form of brilliant poetic justice. My thoughts are with the families affected to this day by this tragedy. www.cbc.ca/news/world/i...

Killdeer, Vancouver (BC), Canada. IUCN 3.1: Near threatened. Unfortunately, many shorebirds fall in this category (or worse), due to climate change and habitat loss. #birds

1) Leasehold estates, to create affordable housing (e.g. Champlain Heights) - so far, other methods seem to have had limited success; 2) Rewilding cities, to combat climate change and habitat loss; 3) Pedestrian-focused housing, to create more communal living. #3CitySubjects

Cooper's Hawk (juvenile) in Montreal. This summer, my son and I were very happy to spend a few minutes with this handsome bird! And while I normally don't include human constructs in my bird photos, birds in urban settings remind us that they have to adapt to cities. IUCN 3.1: Least concern. #birds

Ring-necked Duck, taken at a local pond in Vancouver (when we lived there). One of the most absurdly named ducks -- and there are several of those! although for once the "ring" around the neck is visible (it usually isn't). IUCN 3.1: Least concern. #birds

I moved back to Montreal after 13 years in Vancouver. The answer is: A success!!! And for the record, I have not been on a bicycle for years, but still think we need more bike lanes, not fewer.

“Montreal's bike-lane network has doubled in 10 years. Is it a success? Depends on who you ask.”

Well, you could do more than just pit folks who are angry vs bike advocates. You could share the clear evidence smart bike infrastructure makes cities safer & more successful.

How Double-Loaded Sidewalks Bring Safety, Comfort, and Joy to Our Streets Double-loading is the way to revitalize sidewalks so they can become safe, comfortable, and pleasant places where people love to spend time.

One of the most obvious things to do if you really want to make cities better for people, and thus more successful, safe and enjoyable, is make our sidewalks bigger and better. This one is worth a read. #CitiesForPeople www.sociallifeproject.org/double-loade...
