Unfortunately it doesn’t say anything about timeframes. I’m aware that this person has/had it listed (by agency, not job description/title) on LinkedIn at one point, but I really thought it was several years past being current. I’d be appalled to find out that they are still employed in this way.

So, how is this stuff verified? Someone in my community is listed as active. I was aware that they were previously employed but now have held a different job for the last few years and I thought they were no longer employed in this way. Mostly I’m curious about how the list knows they’re current.

Man, we’ve even been getting USPS down here in Esmont since like Tue/Wed of last week?

FedEx is likely a different story. If they attempt delivery, I presume the box coming today will be dumped in a puddle in travel lanes of the closest secondary road and they’ll be the ones to run it over first.

Parts of Allied St. were a mess - the property owners of the buildings back at the end by the railroad tracks seemed pretty negligent in particular. (Not the businesses themselves - it sounds like the landlord shirked responsibility as their parking lots also still had issues.)

Institutions are dangerous. Their history is rife with abuse, neglect, and premature death. People with disabilities should be able to live in the community they love.

After another unsuccessful attempt at hacking ice chunks to free a second car in our driveway, all I can think is that this storm can just go right on out to sea. I’m not interested in snow right now!

On their FB post they said $66 gets one neighbor in a hotel and fed for a night.

I haven’t gotten up to actually look at accumulation, but I can hear that it’s been sleeting on and off for probably the last hour or so here in Esmont.

Yeah, sleeting in Esmont, too.

K, another option might be a clay pot candle heater! (Google is full of instructions.)

Do you have water when your power is out?

If you have a grill and mason jars - heat up water, close it in mason jars (lid that’ll keep it from leaking), wrap the jars in towels and put them under the covers in the bedroom that you designate the warm room for the entire household. In that warm room, cover windows and doors with blankets.

Oh, no. Do you have any neighbors with a wood stove? We’re likely going to be the warmest house on our road by far, so we’re figuring that we’ll need to be helping others out.

Not sure if you’re on TT, but Caitlyn is down in Scottsville and did a great job explaining how to stay warm.

Were no-mask ordinances brought up as being across the board, or exemptions for medical masks?

I saw a photo? video? of somebody carrying his tactical vest like a trophy… so it appears he lost it along his journey from window ledge to getaway car.

I think it’s a fantastic excuse to give ILL a try! You have a bit less of control of when you’ll get it and when it has to be returned (they don’t always allow renewals), so just plan on prioritizing it when it comes… but I’d be surprised if they can’t borrow it for you from somewhere.

Could be. Root crops can be such a pain. Are you using your native soil or putting soil in a raised bed? I have heavy clay w/rocks and switching to carrots that handle the clay better really helped. These were the only two that survived the voles from my March planting - harvested in Nov. 10” plate.

How long between when you planted them and harvest? I find that mine always need considerably more time than they should to be decent size for eating.

My granddaddy died 20 years ago this month and grief still hits like this once in a while. I’m not sure it will ever go away entirely.

I had planned on having the boy read Brave New World, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451 this semester for his 12th grade English/Modern Literature. It seems cruel to assign him a dystopian novel while living through real-life dystopia… that said, I think I should still assign him one. Help me decide!
