Medieval Loughborough people would have kept livestock. Animals found wandering free would be taken to the local pound called the Pinfold until the owner came to collect them and paid a fine. Pinfold gate was the street that led to the Pinfold.

The churchโs War Memorial is a single block of Charnwood granite. Nearby Whittle Hill was known for โhoneโ stones, used to sharpen knives; its quarry, opened in 1837, shut in the early C20th.
