A crow flew right through the bubble Zero was trapped in, causing it to turn pure black and dissolve, freeing him from the levitating cage.

Looking for the cause, he spotted a familiar black outfitted figure. They tip their hat and disappear without a word.

In combination with DeDeDe’s burning hammer and Rodger’s burning saw blade, the barricade gave way, allowing the 4 an exit.

“Of course. Don’t thank me, however, I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Bridget asking for a favor. She mentioned you lot owe for an upgrade for her teddy bear for her help.”

Testament chuckled lightly.

“Lovely. Now that we have retrieved X, you lot should be able to hold your own. I hope I have been of service.”

“Ah, of course. Now, how is our friend faring for himself?”

And, as if they never left, Testament reappeared behind Tron, with a plus one.

“I thank you for your cooperation, Mrs. Bonne.”

Testament simply nodded, placing a hand on his shoulder and immediately being warped to the base.

“Then we are in luck. Do you wish to return with me, or stay here?“

“Well, your pal Zero is engaged in a duel with him. Reinforcements are not allowed to interfere, and he has specifically specified you as one of his targets. If Zero is to stumble, you will be needed to assist him. Are you willing?”

“My name is not important as of now. What is important is you listen to me. You are aware of your younger counterpart’s…predicament, correct?”

“X, is it?”

A black outfitted person called out from behind him.

“I’ll hold you to that, dear.”

And with that, it was as if Testament was never even there. Of course, the fleshy cocoon around the base remained intact.

“If I have your word you will not interfere while I’m gone, then I suppose I can do it now. The only reason I’m here is to make sure you lot don’t meddle in the fight, after all.”

“Mm, then go right ahead, little one. I am sure you are quite excellent at it.”

“Lovely. Now that we are on the same page…tea, anyone?”

“I understand it is not a set of desirable circumstances, but this is sadly the hand you have been dealt. If things go sour, I will attempt to locate X myself.”

“This was originally a simple favor for a friend, but I quickly realized it had much more at stake. To lure him here, he was promised that the only ones that will fight him would be Zero, and X. If reinforcements come, he may do something rash. I’m merely here to ensure no one interferes.”

“The only reason I would have for engaging in a duel with you three is if you attempt to undo the barricade, or find a way out. So long as you stay put, you are in no danger from me.”

“Then, I suppose all you can do is hope Zero can hold his own, for this ‘Rock’ individual has no intentions of pulling any blows.”

“The blue one was promised that no reinforcements would be present other than the maverick hunter and the one they called ’X’. I am simply ensuring that promise is kept for the safety of everyone.”

“Originally, it was a simple favor for a friend. Now, I see there is much, much more at stake.”

Testament takes a prolonged sip of tea.

“No, I am not Death, though I suppose I do seem as though I am here to collect souls.”

Testament chuckled, gesturing to a table.

“Sit, please.”
