I'm not even THAT hype of a Xmas person, but I'm spending this 1st Nvmbr w/end putting up decor. For me this is mostly just bc of ADHD: Decorating for Xmas always seems to take longer than other holidays. The later I leave it, the more it becomes just 1 more thing to juggle in an already-busy season

With SNAP/EBT cuts looming I highly recommend downloading this app! Basically restaurants and other food businesses will have available bags of random food they don’t wanna waste for ppl to buy for hella cheap! This has saved me sooooo many times when I only have $5 and need some food.

I don't know where I'm going with this, but it was just a thing I was thinking about, in connection to the old "what if I'd made a different choice, what if I'd gone left instead of right" trope that shows up in so many stories.

And honestly it's okay, I'm okay! But it is a very different kind of thought experiment for me. I feel lucky to be able to just do some baseline things other people find easy. And whenever I make any choices, the first thing I have to consider are my limitations. I've had to do that my entire life

A thing about having bad executive function is like. The whole thought experiment where people ask themselves oh, what if I did X instead of Y, or made a difference choice at this particular point. Just doesn't apply to me. Because all my available paths & choices were pretty much dictated by ADHD

I'm not a Midwesterner, so I recently realized that, for all it's one of the most prominent US cities? I had no real clear image of the city's vibe. But after traveling thru recently + all the impressive stories of care & community organizing?

I now have *such* a high opinion of Chicagoans

Anyway whenever people say they don't deserve to exist/imply that they haven't earned the right to exist, I'm so angry + sad that someone made them feel that way.

The point of life is simply to exist, and to be consciously aware that your own existence/life itself is a statistically-improbable miracle.

Then to spend your time in awe that you get to be alive + conscious of the miracle of life for a little while!!

It does feel really weird that one of the biggest tech stories of the decade isn't the impending death of social media. At least what most of us 30+ grew up with understanding social media as, which is a more horizontal, accessible kind of content development and community building

Hearing ppl might leave bsky to go somewhere else, and. Gonna be honest, gang, I don't think I have more moves in me. If bsky goes under, I'll most likely just double down on being a Tumblr gremlin.

And whenever THAT eventually ends for good, I'll probably just call it quits on social media tbh
