Any time I struggle with writing dialogue, I look up screenplays from Andor. It's some of the best genre dialogue I've seen, and never fails to inspire.

10.02.2026 01:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just purchased my fourth bookshelf. Some might say I have a book collecting problem. But I just see it as being a responsible book owner. Books get much more enrichment when properly shelved, you see

06.02.2026 15:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Obsessed with this plot structure I came across online:
Act 1: get your character up a tree
Act 2: throw rocks at them
Act 3: get them out of the tree
Rewatching Daredevil: Born Again in preparation for the second season, and ugh. I forgot how *incredible* the dialogue is. The way Frank draws out Matt's emotions? The way the music doesn't kick in until Foggy is mentioned? Masterclass writing.

In today's world, the act of creation is in and of itself a rebellion.
Keep making things. Put your humanity into it. Your voice matters. The world will change- yes, one little word, one drop of paint at a time.
#ColoradoGold writer's conference starts tomorrow! Can't wait to dive in and meet fellow writers. This'll be my second writing conference- we'll see how it compares to the #PikesPeak conference!

and it's *still Monday*
For the books that stick with you- what stays in your mind the most? Characters that tug at your soul? Plot twists that leave you on the edge of your seat? Or a world you can't wait to get lost in?
For me- character connection is king, because reading is inherently empathetic.

A question for readers! What is the most memorable character you have ever encountered?
Bartimaeus from the Bartimaeus trilogy and Death from The Book Thief come to mind for me. Both break the fourth wall, and their lyrical character voices left me spellbound.

What am I reading? A Psalm for the Wild Built, by Becky Chambers! A cozy solarpunk story of robots, tea, and finding comfort in one another.

"She crept along the corners of the temple, dodging the eyes of attendant and worshipper alike."
I've come to accept that wildfire season is a part of life here in Colorado. It's an equivalent exchange, the price for proximity to such monumental wild beauty. And yet, every time smoke chokes the sky I wish it could be different. But nature cannot exist in a snow globe, eternally pristine.
18.08.2025 14:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A question for sci-fi/fantasy writers: how important is research to your writing process, and how much of it do you typically do for each story?
I'm a minimalist researcher; I'll Google basic concepts to "get the idea," but I won't let the limitations of reality hold me back from a fun concept.
Do I work on an older WIP, write a sequel to the most recent one, or start something entirely new: the seemingly never-ending dilemma

Absolutely! Passion always shines through in writing- and readers can always tell when there's a lack of it.
05.08.2025 14:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A question for all the writers out there: do you choose to write in genres which are more likely to be published, or do you write what you love first and foremost?
