Mama Bear. Her two cubs kept popping up in the grass and disappearing just as quickly. Really fun!

Green aurora lights up the night sky in snowy Alaska. The light is defused by clouds and even the ground is bathed in green.
This aurora activity took everyone by surprise when it flared up. Most of us were running time-lapse setups, but I was close enough to my camera to change the exposure to avoid the shots being overexposed. Everything was drenched in light for a few seconds. #Northernlights #Alaska #Naturephotography
08.04.2025 03:12 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A snowy ground with sparse leaning trees and mountains in the background lead up to a massive sky alive with streaks of color in greens and purples created by the Northern lights in Alaska.
Glad I took a stroll away from main vista, you never know what's a couple dozen yards down the trail... mostly because you can't see anything. π

Thanks! They are beautiful birds and that location has incredible views when not covered in fog.

A small brown burrowing owl sits on the green grass surrounded by small white wildflowers in a field in Florida. He is looking directly into the camera with his large yellow eyes.
Burrowing owl populations are on the decline in the US. Human activity is altering their habitat and driving away food and shelter. They are known to decorate the entrances of burrows with colorful or shiny objects. This one prefers the wildflowers!

It is remarkably beautiful there. I rode the ferry out of North Sydney to Port aux Basques and then drove all the way to St. John's and back. Everywhere I went I was in awe. I tell everyone to visit!
