I know that being disappointed in something can make you feel trapped, angry, impotent... But just simply pointing out the problems while offering nothing else helps... Nobody. I've done the same thing myself. A lot. It never helps.

That's perfectly reasonable, I just reject the implication that your experiences are canon. Magic happens anywhere we socialize if we let it. Not everything is for everybody though.

It's not a zero sum game. Many people don't have the ability/opportunity to socially engage outside an online environment. I understand the desire to unplug. I've done more than my share, but 'best enjoyed' isn't 'exclusively enjoyed' and if it's helpful for many, we should applaud the effort.

The point to the original post is that this person believes they are challenging the 'old guard' on Wreck that are aging and losing sight of changing societal aspects... However, in doing so, he has created a clique that has begun judging and refusing people that aren't 'young' and 'good looking'.

On Wreck Beach there is a beachgoer, who, online, would certainly be an 'influencer' who uses his popularity to attract a certain crowd to where he sets up. That crowd then uses their 'status' to keep people they deem'unworthy' from being around them. Antithesis to naturism, yet here we are.

Even if you're not a discord person... Consider becoming one. It's akin to IRC back in the day. More of a controlled meeting spot rather than an open social media. Can have a learning curve but help is available.
