The paper's placement is not unexpected, but as someone very interested in Thylacocephalans it was still really nice to see

Here the result of the Seaham Formation #paleostream, maybe the most relaxing formation stream we will ever have! This Carboniferous tundra wasn't chosen because of it's fossils, but because of its setting.

Digital paleoart scene showing two pterosaurs with long, comb-like teeth standing in shallow water, using their jaws to filter food. Several similar pterosaurs fly in the background and a large theropod dinosaur resembling Irritator walks along the shore chasing them. The landscape is semi-arid with distant mountains under a cloudy sky.

Photographs and interpretative drawings of a fossil regurgitalite from the Romualdo Formation (Araripe Basin). Panels A and B show part and counterpart of an oval limestone concretion containing disarticulated and partially digested remains of pterosaur bones and fish. Panels C and D are line drawings highlighting bone clusters and digestive residue, illustrating the internal organization of the regurgitated mass.

For people who know the Wiki page of the Judith River Formation you will notice that Zuul is missing from here, that's because we chose the middle member. The lower Oldman Formation is basically the same around this time, so its in here too. Size chart by Montana

And here we go, result from the Judith River Formation #paleostream! This late Cretaceous formation might be full of charismatic megafauna but it is currently understudied and a total mess when it comes to stratigraphy. In this scene I wanted to focus on two aspects...

The stratigraphy of the Judith is sadly very messy and needs a lot of dedicated love and Research in order to figure out large scale correlates between it and Dinosaur Park, Oldman, and Foremost. This map I made shows how messy the stratigraphy can be.

Four black-and-white pencil sketches of prehistoric animals, arranged in four quadrants on a piece of paper. In the top left is a Nanotyrannus, facing angled away from the viewer between several very large trees. In the top right is a female Pteranodon flying low over the water of the open ocean, looking at a large Protosphyraena fish swimming at the surface. In the bottom left is a Phosphorosaurus swimming with a particularly large sturgeon writhing in its jaws. In the bottom right is an up-close face of Helicoprion in side view, showcasing small scars and sensory pores as it swims upwards.

from researching the Nightmare that is Judith And Belly River Group correlates, it has become abundantly clear we need some insane person to wander around the badlands of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana for a few years to actually figure out the stratigraphy.

This has some really useful potential applications to determine biological sex in hadrosaurs, which could make doing nuanced osteological comparisons of other features in male and female individuals easier. I guess only time will tell!

Happy #FossilFriday! These are tail vertebrae of the duck-billed #dinosaur #Hypacrosaurus (#MOR549). The arrows highlight #pathologies (injuries). This week, a new study by Bertozzo et al., suggests these pathologies may be caused by mating, indicating this dinosaur is a female.
