Ali Teymoori and I wrote up a piece for @markrubin.bsky.social's excellent Critical Metascience blog. We summarise our new paper on disciplinary crises in psychology and some of the key take-homes for psychologists.

Psychologists tend to go in for changes to methods and statistics. But we argue these crises point to deeper epistemological issues that need to be addressed for the discipline to progress.

Inequalities in the funding landscape are actually a major barrier to OA publication. The author-pays model for OA means only those with access to resources get their research out there for all to read for free. OA should become truly open, for authors too! #OpenScience

I especially appreciate the policy to not accuse people of using AI in the comments thread, but to contact the editor instead. The same should apply in peer review.

Female scientists have to wait longer for their articles to be reviewed than their male colleagues. An analysis of 36.5 million papers in the life sciences shows that for females it took 115 days to reach a decision, compared to 101 days for men journals.plos.org/plosbiology/... @plosbiology.org

Tomorrow I'll be talking about disciplinary marginalisation. Feminist philosophy of science has moved from the margins to the mainstream. Feminist philosophy isn't niche, and now we know it! But we have to keep up solidarity amongst feminist philosophers of all stripes.
