This country is full of old houses and pubs close by and it's not noise complaints that are shutting pubs down at such a rate.

Live near 3 pubs, built in 1700's and my home is nearly 200 years old. Pubs compete for business now, DJ's in gardens til 2am. Homes were built near pubs when DJ's never existed & shut early. To take away safety net for residents purely for the benefit of pubs is mad.

I just had a brief 3 month stint back in London (having lived and worked there for some years) and I was struck by how nice some parts are and how great neighbours can be. Miles better than small towns and mentality of the people.

I was in London on a Saturday job once and Keith Allen passed me by and stopped, chatted and then asked me for a lift as he was late somewhere. So I obliged, he did seem rather hungover.
