71% of Brits back independent press regulation, new polling reveals Latest polling by Opinium shows overwhelming public support for reform of press regulation

New research by Opinium on behalf of the PJP:
“Surveying 2,050 UK adults, the poll finds that more than half (54%) of Brits think press standards have got worse or not improved since the phone hacking scandal. Just 10% of Brits support continued regulation by IPSO”

The Telegraph’s attacks on the BBC are breathtakingly hypocritical The Telegraph holds the BBC to standards they fail to meet themselves, the hypocrisy speaks for itself.

Earlier this year The Telegraph shared misleading statistics about London's migrant population and faced no serious sanctions from IPSO. Accuracy is fundamental to our media landscape and the Government must act to ensure that newspapers are subject to standards of ethics and accountability. 2/2

The Telegraph has published its "editorial view" on the recent BBC resignations, claiming that they want "to ask legitimate questions about the accuracy of its journalism". If only The Telegraph would hold their own reporting to the same standards. 1/2
