I think so many of us use cookbooks as a purely utilitarian piece of media — and, to be fair, they are a great tool — but their science and artistry should also be appreciated.

If you were recently gifted a cookbook, I implore you to read it cover to cover (like a novel). Not only are the narrative portions often spectacularly interesting, but you really learn a thing or two about a dish’s origin and why certain ingredients work well together.

As an avid roadtripper, I’m lowkey a Cracker Barrel fan. It was great to write a story all about the chain’s gift shop!

One of my favorite things about the Milwaukee Art Museum is going on a little scavenger hunt to find the artwork that’s printed on your ticket.
