Liverpool’s Chinatown, centered on Nelson St, is the oldest in Europe, originating in the 1860’s.
My painting focuses on the bright signage that characterises Chinatown, contrasting with the restrained Georgian facades above.

“The bombed out church”

St Luke’s Church was fire bombed during WW2. The burnt out shell was preserved as a memorial and landmark - known as the Bombed Out Church. This piece focuses on the apse of the building.

This piece is based on a sketch I did last winter of the west front of the cathedral. Completed in 1978, the statue of the Risen Christ by Elisabeth Frink was installed over the entrance in 1993. #art #liverpool

The terraced houses of Devonshire Road were built alongside Princes Park from the 1840’s. My picture highlights an elegant ironwork veranda on one of the houses.

Porter St is in the Ten Streets area to the south of Liverpool’s Stanley Dock. Each street is named after a separate commodity. The other end of the street can be seen in last week’s Waterloo Rd painting.
