Liverpool Cathedral from Grenville Street South
Pastel and acrylic on canvas
2025
61cm x46cm

From a winter walk exploring the waste ground on the south side of Liverpool Cathedral.

The layers have contrasting graphic techniques and the cathedral backlit, heightening the contrasts. #liverpool #art

β€˜Wellington Assembly Rooms’
Pastel and acrylic on paper
2025
55cm x 39cm

Liverpool’s old Assembly Rooms on Mount Pleasant are deserted and languishing on the at risk register for historic buildings. My painting emphasises this grandeur in neglect.

β€˜Hope Street’
Pastel and acrylic on paper
2025
55cm x 39cm

This morning’s completed piece is of Liverpool’s Hope Street and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, completed in 1967.

One of the city’s finest civic streets with great architecture from the 18th-21st century.

β€œThe Playhouse Theatre”
Pastel and acrylic on paper
2025
54cm x 39cm

The Playhouse Theatre holds a happy memory for us as one of our first nights out when we moved to Liverpool. I was particularly keen to capture the Young Frankenstein banner across the theatrical facade.

β€œNelson Street”
Pastel and acrylic on paper
54cm x 39cm

Liverpool’s Chinatown, centered on Nelson St, is the oldest in Europe, originating in the 1860’s.
My painting focuses on the bright signage that characterises Chinatown, contrasting with the restrained Georgian facades above.

A dramatic view of the huge west front of the cathedral. The building is shown at twilight and back lit, which adds to the drama of the scene.

β€œThe West Front, Liverpool Cathedral”
Acrylic and pastel on canvas
2025
(61cm x 46cm)

This piece is based on a sketch I did last winter of the west front of the cathedral. Completed in 1978, the statue of the Risen Christ by Elisabeth Frink was installed over the entrance in 1993. #art #liverpool

A shot of work in progress for my latest piece, based on a drawing from last winter of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. #liverpool #art

β€œDevonshire Road, Toxteth”
Pastel and acrylic on canvas mounted on board
61cm x 46cm

The terraced houses of Devonshire Road were built alongside Princes Park from the 1840’s. My picture highlights an elegant ironwork veranda on one of the houses.

Thank you so much for the donation to Shelter - I can’t tell you how touched I am by that. Makes it all feel worthwhile.
Delighted you are pleased with the cards and must say relieved that they finally arrived!

Porter Street
Chalk, graphite and acrylic on paper
2025
55cm x 39cm

Porter St is in the Ten Streets area to the south of Liverpool’s Stanley Dock. Each street is named after a separate commodity. The other end of the street can be seen in last week’s Waterloo Rd painting.

It’s really not a problem. I’m just feel incredibly embarrassed! When they arrive please do let me know. Would a donation to Shelter be okay?
P.s. on the back of this experience I’m closing the website account. I will be reopening it as a more art focussed site so I’ll keep you posted πŸ€—

Hi Tom,
Fingers crossed I think the printing log jam is solved. They should arrive with you in the next few days.
In the meantime I’ve refunded your purchase as you’ve had to wait so long.
Best wishes
