Yeah, fully agreed. Sadly I don't think that's a priority for the folks running the site. The best we have right now is the 'lancer' tag, which is somewhat useful.

Seriously you should check this out. There are some great video games and TTRPGs in this: a bajillion solo games, Mothership modules, lots of mecha stuff that isn't Lancer, and also resources and music for running games

Far Field playtest status: game is looking great, my voice not so much. The new allergy is really doing a number on me and it's tough to talk through a whole session 😭

Does Polygon still have human writers? (semi-serious question, I'd heard that Valnet had fired most of their union staff and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that whoever remains is embracing AI)

This has happened to me multiple times now, sometimes you just hear someone refer to your character in a particular way or give them an off-the-cuff nickname and the only response is "hell yeah that's a sick name, I'm gonna use it"

Fun fact about Teo, her original callsign was "Aconite"; she picked up "Darkstar" in play when an NPC made a pun about the etymology of Stygos

disclosure: I am a rank beginner as an artist; the face structure for this was largely traced from the original portrait, many of the colour choices are also taken directly from Ares' portrait of Soto (also from SOTW)

I guess it's a salient reminder that all artists are parts of and contributors to a broader cultural movement that draws on common roots and contemporaneous cause

Firehawks! I think I read about them at one point, though I don't know much about them beyond what you've already said. Maybe worth a deep dive at some point.

Funnily enough this is the second time I've run across a piece of media that both closely aligns with what this current project is trying to communicate and further inspires me to go futher with it, the first being Scavengers Reign

So it's kinda wild to say this a year and a bit into writing Far Field, but I only just got around to reading To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers. The vibes are immaculate. You should read it if you haven't already.

Patchwork was destined to live and die unremarkably maintaining production for SSC subsidiaries in the icy steel mills. However, the fire of revolution sparked new opportunities though with great cost.

Unironically something I've been considering doing a full write up on; I first read Player of Games at a young age and the description of Echronedal's ecology left a significant impression on me.

COVID took my best friend from me. They had to put him in a coma and he never woke up. It killed millions and it's still killing people and ruining lives today and yet we all just collectively decided to put it down the memory hole, and refused to learn from it or hold anyone accountable.

This reads like a joke but it's honestly kinda fucked that I managed to catch COVID on the one single day I was able to take my partners out to the city, and now I have a life altering allergy because midway through a pandemic people STILL can't wear a mask or stay home when they get sick

The good news is that I've finally managed to figure out the cause of the constant respiratory issues that've been dealing with over the past few months

The bad news is that it turns out COVID can sometimes trigger brand new allergies, and apparently I'm now allergic to my cat

Gang you have no idea how much strength it takes not to name this section "Fjord Perfect". NO IDEA. I should get a MEDAL.

The product of a Karrakin terraforming project abandoned after the Interest War, the coastline has been modeled on the famously dramatic fjords of Karrakis’ southernmost continent. The landscape bears the hallmarks of a COMMENCER project left to go wild for many centuries without upkeep, but it is clear that the geotect responsible for the design of this coast did so with immense love and care, managing to adapt famous landforms from the original coastline to the new world’s unique weather and hydrological patterns with an uncanny level of precision, and elsewhere embedding their own signature in the cliffside.

The best part about getting to write this book is getting to have a little fun with it #FarField
