Books 21-30, all ten were why-choose supernatural romance, 3 different series, avg 3.4 rating, 1 DNF (the last in a series). All self-pubbed. I do notice that overall, self-pubbed tends to rate lower for me, but I also find real gems so I keep sifting through 'em....

The second ten books of 2026: avg. 3.55, 1 DNF. 9 romances, 1 fantasy. Assistant to the Villain was the standout here. Otherwise, mostly two different self-pubbed series. Not as strong a follow-up, but that's ok!

My first ten books of 2026: avg. 4.3 rating, 1 DNF. 5 romances, 2 fantasies, 1 literary fiction, 1 mystery-thriller, 1 non-fiction. Overall, a strong start.

Overall, I will have read 236 books and DNF'd another 10 in 2025. Highlights of the year were everything I read by Mariana Zapata and Ali Hazelwood, Quicksilver by Callie Hart, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, and Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez.

My last movie of 2025 is likely going to be Anaconda. I think it fulfilled the brief it laid out in the trailer and first act, so well done on that front. My youngest kid thought it was awesome. I thought it was great the whole family could go see it together. Overall, a win!

So I went to buy calendars today. One of the things I noticed is that all the sexy women calendars featured a variety of poses and props, but all the sexy men ones? The photographers seemed to pick one pose and cycle all 12 men through it. I was incredibly disappointed by the lack of creativity.

Healthcare is too expensive for the average person *now*. Rich people have the best access *now*. Your argument shows your bias. People who are not wealthy should not have to go deeper into debt so they can get medically-necessary treatment.

This is insane. Patients are people who by definition are in need of medical help. The healthcare system should be "in the business" of aiding patients. Not selling them medical products.

My first impression? This sounds depressed. The AI voices are so hollow, it sounds like every character is suppressing their emotions. There's zero chance I'd be interested in watching this. The pacing and emotions are so off. What a waste.

Anyone know if any of these Advent Books are any good?
